Ok, so I am writing again.

Hello hello,

There was a comment from the last blog as to what a .5 rabbi is. Well, that is someone that is in Rabbinical school. And, the D'var was on Joseph and the evolution of his emotions throughout the bible. It was pretty cool if I do say so myself...

Anyways, on to other things... like me :)

So we are on break now, so I am going to take it easy. Might go to Tel Aviv a few times, a few conferences here and there, and work with the insanity of the Israeli system. Hmm.. whatelse... Nothing exciting to report. People are coming to town to visit, so thats nice (please send lactard pills... please please.... and VHS movies, and mascara.. black, hypoallergenic :) )

Alright, so this post is useless, but, at least it took me less than a month to send it :)

Have a good one,

nikki

Another day, another bit of insanity...

Well, I am trying to post more as I have been yelled at for not keeping a better record.
I really don't know if anyone is reading this, but what the heck, I will keep spewing my thoughts on to this page, and who knows what will turn out...

So, where am I?

I'm still in Jerusalem (duh) still having a good time (second duh)

Um..er...

I finally saw the Godfather, and I now understand many cultural references that were just lost on me. So one of my flat-mates (Tovah aka. the hairdresser) got a tv and a VCR. Now, I was walking to a friends house, and outside low-and-behold there was a box of VHS movies that someone was throwing out. So I got all sorts of movies.YAY. (Please send movies... please please please...)
I gave a D'var Torah at my yeshiva last week. It went really well. It was one of those ideas that just kinda stuck in my head and I went with it. Anyways, it sparked a lot of conversation and it was great. I a great friday night dinner at a friends house where I got to read it yet again, and sparked even more interesting conversation (that is what happens when in the room there are 4.5 rabbis, a few spouces and me) so that was good. Contemplating looking at the parsha every week and writing something. Maybe post it here?

I only have another few days left of yeshiva before break. We are going to be off for a couple weeks. During that time (geek) I am going to go to an Educators Conference (geek) and who knows what else.

Ok. So this was a lame post. Sorry. At least I put something up. Look forward to reading some comments. Lilah tov.

The lights that burn..

OK fine. I am really bad at posting. Almost as bad as I have been at returning e-mails, but finally, I have a chance to sit down and write...

It's now the 5th night of Chanukah here and in the window of my room my chanukah lights burn. It's an amazing thing to walk around the streets here and Israel and see the chanukiot (candelabra used for chanukuah) burning. It's similar to how in North America families would pile into cars and go look at the Christmas lights, although here, we are looking to remind us of the nes, the miracle that happened here. . .

Living in Israel has been going well, things in general are well. I have another week of yeshiva before I head on a 2 week break. For one of the weeks there is an educational conference that is here, so I am going to check that out, the first week, who knows. We'll see. I doubt there will be much travel outside of Jerusalem, but, it will be nice to explore the city that I live in. As I have a monthly bus pass, I can just jump on a bus without paying, so that's a nice thing...

Here in the apartment there has been a new addition, his name is Moe. His full name is Moed Kitten (can you guess what I am learning in gemara this year?) he's a 4 legged wonder cat that is here to rid the apartment of unwanted crawling and/or scurrying guests, and so far, he's doing a great job...

Hmm... What else? When are you coming to Israel to visit? Even if you are just reading this semi-drab blog out of boredom and I don't know who you are - come! Israel is a great place to spend your reading week, vacation time, anything... The weather has been great too...

Politics. Ugh. Such a disaster. Governments changing their policies, the right (likud) is no more different then that of the left (labour) it's an interesting thing. I don't feel that people here really are looking out for the needs of their own - meaning, Jews no longer look out for other Jews in this country. Before we begin to look at the needs of others we need to see why our fellow JEWISH neighbor is hurting, protesting, staying firm on their ideologies, crying and needing. Until we are able to do that, we will not be able to live in a harmonious state... But I forgot, we don't need to take care of Jewish interests, those arn't important...

That's all for now, I'm off to a family chanukah party :)

Shavoa tov - have a good week.

Nikki
