Could it be? A post?

I cannot believe that 2 months have passed since I got here. It’s pretty insane. I am not sure where the time has gone or exactly everything I have done or accomplished, but I know that I have slept little, planned lots and been surprised as to what I have seen.

Campus:

The university campus has changed a bit since I graduated it. There is still the anti-Israel and anti- Jewish sentiment, however, it is worse. Students have become numb to the negativity and those who haven’t have gained a sense of…well, I am not sure. Being a professional on campus is challenging. There is finding the ability to balance what the needs of the organization and students are and finding away to make everyone happy. I am not going to lie, it’s a challenge. However, slowly slowly, things are making progress. My job is not simply to plan Israel programs, my job has begun to include: Life counseling (Should someone go to Israel after university? Where should someone go to grad school? Should they make Aliyah) going to the main area of campus to work with students when an “Israel Apartheid wall” is built. (And by working, I also mean talking with the students that well… yes… hate Israel. It’s been fun. Let me tell you.) Id be happy to talk about this more, but via email. there is only so much that I want to publish online...

I’ve been learning a lot since being here, and I know that there are many more things to learn. I am working with a great group of people; our student board is quite committed and it’s been great getting to know them. I have a lot of programs coming up. I recently started a book club (Michelle, I know you are laughing here… ironic isn’t it?) so that should be good. Once I figure out what books are on tap, I will post them.

Birthright:

I have been accepted to be a madricha (staff member) for birthright (the free-trip to Israel program) so I will be coming to Israel sometime from December- February. I should know in a few weeks as to when the trip date is; I will let everyone know. So that’s a good thing.

Snow:

I have not seen snow in over a year. In fact, I can count (and date) each time I have seen snow in the past 3 years. This week I saw it twice. Gross. Gross. Gross. I hate snow. I hate it. Canada is evil that it has snow this early. Snow should be banned. I am starting a petition. I just don’t know who to send the completed petition too. Oh well.

Time:

I have none. Zip. Zilch. I am soooo busy that it’s insane.

Future stuff:

I am planning a whole batch of programs. Some on a huge insane scale and others smaller. I will see what else ends up on my list of things to do for the year. Once I have things finalized, I will add more – and this one thing I am working on is BIG…BIG BIG BIG. : )

My brain hurts.

That’s about all I can think of.

At least I wrote something. It’s taken me awhile. Its crazy. But finally, I am writing something.

Anyway, I hope all is well. Send me an update

Nikki
